Information about the appearance of a new generation of Toyota Venza surfaced almost before the official presentation of the novelty, but the fact that the legendary model would be resumed was known two years ago. Until the last moment, it was not known in what body or what the revived model would look like. The first generation of Toyota Venza was produced from 2012 to 2016 and gained considerable popularity among fans of the brand. The body of the crossover was more like a minivan, there is a lot of free space in the cabin, and the design itself remains in high esteem to this day.
As for the new Toyota Venza, which was presented recently in the United States, it turned out to be not so new or unique. In fact, this is a renamed Toyota Harrier crossover, which was introduced to the Japanese market earlier in April 2020. There is practically no difference, except for the location of the steering wheel and a couple of other components for driving the car.
Regarding the technical characteristics of Toyota Venza, there is little choice here, although usually Toyota has something to sort out. Under the hood of the new crossover, a gasoline atmospheric unit with a volume of 2.0 liters paired with a variator can be installed. They also offer a hybrid installation based on a 2.5-liter unit, which works in tandem with the same variators. The drive type can be a front-wheel drive modification or with an all-wheel drive.

The new Toyota Venza crossover was just presented in the USA and so far there is no information whether the new product will reach Europe and what will be equipped. Nevertheless, many dealerships in Europe are already talking about the start of accepting pre-orders for the new product.

As mentioned above, expectations that the new Toyota Venza crossover will be unique have not become a reality. The car turned out to be a renamed Toyota Harrier crossover, but with a left-hand drive. If we talk about the exterior design, then many of the details are completely modern and there is no hint of a budget version of the model.
The front of the new Toyota Venza stands out most of all with its modern LED optics, with a pronounced pair of LED L-shaped daytime running lights. The optics itself is not wide and is quite similar to other models of the company. As expected, the central part of the front end was taken under the radiator grill, with small slots and the company logo in the center. What stands out most is the huge grille in the center of the front bumper.
According to experts, it will be equipped with special shutters, which, through sensors, will regulate the air supply to cool the engine.
In addition to the grille, the front end of the new Toyota Venza is distinguished by additional air intakes. There is also a small grille at the bottom of the bumper, with various security sensors. With decorative highlights, the V-shaped chrome line that connects the optics and the front end trim extending the bonnet of the crossover.
The entire front end of the Toyota Venza is more reminiscent of the previously presented Highlander, which, by the way, despite almost zero demand, will soon start its sales in Europe. The hood of the new Venza looks austere and paired with optics, even intimidating. The designers extended curved lines from the front pillars and to the optics, but the center turned out to be even, without lines and bends. As for the windshield, there is nothing special here, today it is heated and a place for the head-up display. If you do not peer at the emblem, then it is quite possible to confuse the new product with Lexus brand crossovers.
The side of the 2021 Toyota Venza looks no less attractive, although I would like something new. Smooth body lines, a gentle slope at the rear and chrome piping around the windows. From the dimensions of the novelty, it becomes clear that the salon will be designed for 5 seats. In terms of the ratio of dimensions and body parts, the car looks great.
The designers added only the most necessary things, while changing some of the standard elements. For example, the AWD nameplate is now located at the bottom of the tailgate. In the case of a hybrid installation under the hood, the front fender will be marked accordingly. It remains a secret in what color the body of the new crossover will be painted. In Japan, the novelty was offered in shades:

In all likelihood, the new Toyota Venza will appear in the same shades in Europe and North America. It is possible that the palette will be replenished with a couple more shades, which are most often in demand in other models of the company. As an option, the buyer is offered to choose a roof color. By standard, it is painted in the general body color, but it can also be completely black, which goes well with the black crossover struts. At the heart of the Toyota Venza, 18 ″ alloy wheels are installed as standard, 19 ″ wheels are offered as an option or top-end configurations.
Much more interesting was the fodder of the Toyota Venza crossover. Modern style and functionality, nothing superfluous and almost unique design, which is not found in other models of the company. Most of all, the attention is attracted by the thin hind feet, connected to each other by an LED line, and in the center, as befits the company's emblem.
The rear of the crossover is made in several stages. Tilted tailgate glass with sports spoiler at the top of the glass and LED stop indicator. Another bend appeared on the rear bumper, also hooking the lower part of the trunk lid. We can say that it was this design approach that made the rear of the crossover unique.
From other parts of the rear of the Venza, a pair of mufflers stands out, not fake, as well as a recess for license plates, nameplates, a rear-view camera, rear fog lights and a chrome line separating the bumper from the black protective plastic. In summary, it all looks stylish and rich. As many car enthusiasts say, it is somewhat reminiscent of the Porsche Cayenne.
The roof of the Toyota Venza is the last exterior detail worth considering, and it will surprise you with modern technology no less than other elements. Depending on the modification, the roof can be solid without a hatch or glass, an electric sunroof or a panoramic roof can also be installed.
Most interesting is the panoramic roof of the Toyota Venza. Thanks to a special coating and glass, at the push of a button in the cabin, instead of transparent glass, the roof becomes a slightly matte shade, when pressed again, the matte shade is enhanced. By pressing the button again, the roof glass becomes transparent again. As expected, the front part of the panorama is sliding. With the additional elements of the roof of the Toyota Venza, small roof rails and an antenna in the form of a shark fin can be noted.
The appearance of the Toyota Venza 2020 is not the most unique, as the Toyota Harrier was previously presented, however, such a move allowed to revive the model, which is still in demand in the secondary car market.
The interior of the new crossover
If we compare the salon of the first generation Toyota Venza and the second generation, then the space in the new product has become less. The reason is simple and trivial, the engineers used a completely new platform, which led to numerous changes in characteristics, design and free space. On the other hand, the new design is modern.
The central part of the panel is occupied by an 8 ″ or 12.3 ″ touchscreen display of the multimedia system.At the same time, multimedia is based on two updated platforms Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, with the possibility of voice control, remote connection and other modern features that are rapidly being installed on different car models. Directly under the display is a pair of air ducts and a climate control panel with touch buttons.
The design of the central tunnel itself is not entirely standard. There are handrails on the sides of the console, and at the very bottom there is a small depression. The engine start button, the button for the electromechanical handbrake, the system for holding the car at start, USB ports for recharging gadgets and the choice of the travel mode are hidden in the same recess. All this may and looks stylish, but clearly not practical, since at the moment of movement and when the transmission lever is tilted as far forward as possible, it is simply impossible to reach the buttons or USB charging.
Moving along the central tunnel of the Toyota Venza, the designers placed a pair of cup holders, small buttons for controlling the heating and airflow of the front seats and a roomy armrest. For the front panel, natural leather, inserts made of wood or natural materials and chrome elements were used. Previously, nothing like this has been implemented on other models of the company, so this part is unique and looks modern.
As for the Toyota Venza interior, it is new. The front seats turned out to be sporty, with a high backrest, massive lateral support and monolithic headrests. The landing is very comfortable and will allow you to travel more than one hundred kilometers. On the plus side, as already mentioned, heating, electric adjustment and memory for three settings modes.
The second row of Toyota Venza seats is designed for three passengers, and if necessary, it can be folded in a 60/40 ratio, thereby increasing the trunk space. So far, little is known about the material of the interior cladding, in the same way as the color of the material. The presented crossover in Japan received leather upholstery, with perforated inserts. The coloring is mostly dark, black leather with body-color stitching.
Finally, consider the Toyota Venza driver's seat. Starting with the basic configuration, the instrument panel will be digital with an analog speedometer and tachometer, the size of the instrument display can be 4.2 ″ or 7 ″. On top of that, a 10 ″ head-up display was placed behind the tidy. The steering wheel of the new crossover is made in the style of the company, three spokes, two of which are reserved for function buttons, leather braid and the ability to adjust in height and depth.
From the first minute, the interior of the new Toyota Venza will not seem as spacious as in the first generation. Nevertheless, the manufacturer has introduced a large number of modern parts, functions and tried in every possible way to make it easier for passengers to travel long distances. On the plus side, of course, there is a large multimedia display and a digital dashboard, the downside is that the engine start button was hidden near the lever, which is not particularly convenient in an unpredictable situation.

Since the new Toyota Venza crossover has not officially gone on sale yet, it is too early to talk about what will be hidden under the hood of the novelty. With the information already disclosed, it is known that under the hood there can be an atmospheric gasoline unit with a volume of 2.0 liters or a hybrid installation based on a 2.5 liter engine. There is only a variator in a pair, but so far this is the initial version and the appearance of an automatic transmission should not be ruled out.
The aspirated power for 2 liters will be 171 horses, and the hybrid installation will give a total of 222 horses, 218 of which are from the internal combustion engine. The average consumption of the hybrid unit will be 5.5 liters. The driver is offered a choice of three modes of travel: Normal, Eco and Sport. You can also turn off the internal combustion engine and move completely on electric traction, but what will be the battery reserve has not yet been specified.
If we talk about the drive, then in Japan they introduced a front-wheel drive modification, but in the United States, both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions will go on sale. At the same time, all-wheel drive will be implemented only in a hybrid, due to an electric motor on the rear axle, as well as an electromechanical variator.
Safety and comfort systems
There is very little information about the safety and comfort systems of the new Toyota Venza crossover. From those listed by the manufacturer, the presence of:

By design, the car turned out to be a complete copy of the Toyota Harrier, only with a left-hand drive. Overall, the crossover looks modern and stylish, somewhat reminiscent of Lexus. Not without a hybrid installation, but it is too early to talk about its reliability and characteristics, although it is taken from the previously presented Toyota Prius, which is now already on sale in the North American market.
