The all-new BYD e2 electric hatchback was recently unveiled in China. The electric car is built from scratch and is considered a stand-alone model. Engineers originally designed an electric vehicle rather than parasitizing on an existing ICE platform. At the heart of the electric car is a chassis with a semi-independent rear suspension, and this is an indicator of comfort.

The interior of the new BYD e2 looks modern. The central part of the panel was taken under the 10 ″ touchscreen display of the multimedia system, similar to other BYD models. An interesting point is that the multimedia display can be rotated 90 degrees, thereby placing the screen horizontally or vertically, the same display used to control the climate control. Otherwise, the central part of the panel is not varied, a maximum of two air ducts for supplying air to the passenger compartment.
To ensure the movement of the BYD e2 electric car, an electric motor with a capacity of 95 horses is installed on the front axle. Power is supplied from a nickel-metal hydride battery located under the passenger compartment floor. The manufacturer does not disclose the characteristics of the battery yet, but in all likelihood it is economical. According to NDEC standard measurements, the range is sufficient for 360 km without recharging. Under real conditions, this figure will most likely be from 200 to 220 kilometers.
The combination of a simple chassis and a less expensive battery (compared to lithium-ion) gives hope that the price tag will be much more pleasant. According to the company's representatives, the start of sales of the new BYD e2 in the Chinese market will start in July 2019. In all likelihood, then the manufacturer will open a list of characteristics, equipment and prices for cars.
It is worth recalling that in April this year at the Shanghai Auto Show, the manufacturer showed a concept model of the E-Seed GT supercar. Under the hood, a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine was installed paired with electric motors. The electric motors perform the main work, and the turbocharged unit acts as an auxiliary one. The sports car needs 2.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h.
