Just the other day, Mazda's management presented to the public a special version of the Mazda 3 TCR hatchback, developed in collaboration with Long Road Racing. The novelty was created for participation in international races of the TCR series, as you can guess from the name of the model.

The car received a defiant exterior design, complemented by a whole scattering of aerodynamic body elements. Unfortunately, the manufacturer decided to keep the intrigue, so little is known about the cars.

External appearance

The Mazda 3 TCR hatchback has a spectacular and dynamic appearance, however, the usual "three-ruble note" looks stylish and quite aggressive.

The "muzzle" of the novelty flaunts the trademark look of narrowed head optics, a large 7-angle false radiator grille and an aerodynamically efficient front bumper, complemented by large air intakes and a sports splitter.

The dynamic profile demonstrates a long bonnet, A-pillars heavily tilted towards the stern, a rising window line, exclusive design alloy wheels and sporty skirts.

At the rear, the car is equipped with a large aerodynamic spoiler that increases downforce, formidable side lights, a massive rear bumper with a powerful diffuser and a central exhaust pipe.

External dimensions Mazda 3 TCR 2020:

Length, mm4460
Width, mm1795
Height, mm1435
Wheelbase length, mm2725

The ground clearance of the standard Mazda 3 is 135 mm, while the TCR version is clearly less - by at least 10 mm. This is done in order to provide better aerodynamics and enhance the hatchback's already excellent handling.

Salon of the new Mazda

Unfortunately, Mazda decided not to showcase the interior design of the TCR racetrack, but recalling previous racing versions of the company's models, we can assume that it does not differ much from the standard version.

This means that the driver is offered a comfortable multifunction steering wheel and a well-readable dashboard, where the main information is displayed on three large dials. Atop the center console is an 8.8-inch infotainment screen that is available in all model modifications.

It's not hard to guess that the front seats are sporty or perhaps bucket-shaped. But the rear sofa either completely repeats that of the regular Mazda 3 or is completely absent, which would be logical, given the racing orientation of the TCR version.

Even the regular version of the Mazda 3 demonstrates high-quality finishing materials, perfect assembly and verified ergonomics. Therefore, nothing else can be expected from the racing version of the hatchback.

Trunk volume has not changed - 358 liters, which is far from a record figure, but is in line with the average value for this class of cars.

Specifications Mazda 3 TCR 2020

It is known that the racing hatchback will be set in motion by means of a 4-cylinder petrol engine, boosted to 350 "horses" and 490 Nm of torque. But the volume of the power plant, as well as its dynamic characteristics, are not specified.

But, we think, no one will be surprised if it takes less than 5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 Mazda 3 TCR, and the maximum speed exceeds 250 km / h. By the way, a 6-speed manual transmission will work in tandem with the engine.

2020 Mazda 3 TCR Price and Equipment

The exact list of equipment was not announced, but they decided not to hide the price tag. To become the owner of a three-note TCR, you will have to pay at least 175 thousand dollars, while the car will not be available for purchase to everyone.

The racing debut of the novelty is scheduled for 01/26/2020 and will take place as part of the Daytona 24-hour race.

Conclusion

The Mazda 3 TCR is a very interesting car that the company intends to flex its muscles with and prove that they can and are able to build racing models capable of competing with the best racing stables in the world.
