While American buyers are somewhat disappointed with diesel engines, Cadillac plans to develop a four and six cylinder diesel engine for European consumers, while American buyers are somewhat disappointed with diesels, Cadillac plans to develop a diesel engine with four and six cylinders for European consumers.

According to Cadillac engineers, they plan to release diesel engines with four and six cylinders for European consumers closer to 2020. The president of the company, Johan de Neissen, has promised that these will be excellent diesel engines that will meet all the necessary standards.

Such a statement was made after the famous Volkswagen diesel engine scandal, and the manufacturer Cadillac will not allow such a thing. According to Johan de Neissen, the engine is also planned to be completed on cars for America, not only for Europe.

It was also said that diesel engines will not be developed from scratch, but rather will be taken as a prototype from one of the manufacturers General Motors. The exhaust system of the assembly, specifications, electronics will be tailored to the standards of Cadillac cars. In terms of power, economy and performance will be stronger than the basis from which the units were taken. This is not the first statement by Cadillac about the creation of such units, but the first parameters with which they will be produced. Without diesel units, Cadillac will not be able to break into the European market and compete with manufacturers such as Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

Meanwhile, there are premium manufacturers who also have few diesel units and compete successfully in the automotive market. Lexus is an example of such an automaker.

Cadillac's first attempts at developing diesel engines were in the late 1970s. Back then, engineers were aiming for the 1978 CAFE standards, which talked about fuel economy.

However, the image of Kadilak and the views of US buyers diverged, as the latter sought the power of the unit and not fuel economy. As a result, Cadillac stopped developing and producing diesel engines. But the desire to develop such an engine has survived to this day, so the company can present very interesting options and achievements in the direction of diesel engines.
